The Role
We are seeking an experienced
Principal Electrical Engineer
to support nuclear new build and energy infrastructure projects across Canada. Based in
Toronto
, you will provide technical leadership and multidisciplinary input during the
pre-FEED and development phases
, ensuring the successful delivery of major client programmes.
You will oversee the
design, analysis, and integration of electrical systems
supporting nuclear and energy infrastructure projects.
While your primary base will be Toronto, the role may require
hybrid work or on-site presence
at different
client locations
, depending on project deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering input into new build and infrastructure development projects.
- Provide multidisciplinary oversight across civil, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering packages.
- Ensure compliance with
CNSC, NRC, and IAEA
regulatory frameworks. - Manage deliverables within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Develop and review designs for
power distribution, protection, lighting, and grounding systems
. - Ensure compliance with
CSA, IEEE, and nuclear electrical safety standards
. - Lead power studies including load flow, short circuit, and arc flash analysis.
- Support digital and control system integration with I&C teams.
- Provide electrical input into feasibility studies and plant layouts.
- Support feasibility studies, site assessments, and technology evaluations.
- Coordinate with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration.
- Prepare and review technical documentation to high regulatory standards.
About You
Essential:
- P.Eng
(or equivalent) with eligibility to work in Canada. - Proven extensive experience within the
nuclear or energy sector
. - Proven track record delivering
pre-FEED and design-phase projects
. - Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and safety culture.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and interface with clients.
Desirable:
- Experience working with major Canadian nuclear operators.
- Familiarity with
AP1000 technology
and digital engineering tools. - Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Previous international or large-scale infrastructure project experience.
- Knowledge of
HV/LV switchgear
, cable routing, and electrical substations.
