Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Instructor / Program Lead
Pride Muay Thai – Richmond, BC
Pride Muay Thai is seeking an experienced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor to help establish and grow a BJJ program at our gym in Richmond, BC. This is a flexible opportunity with multiple possible arrangements depending on the right fit.
We are open to:
Hiring an employee instructor
Subletting our upstairs space to a BJJ coach or team to run their own program
Partnering with an existing BJJ program looking for a Muay Thai collaboration
About Us
Pride Muay Thai is a well-established gym with a strong community, active competition team, and structured class schedule. We are looking to expand into BJJ with the right person or team who values professionalism, quality instruction, and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
Teach Gi and No-Gi BJJ classes
Create a structured and beginner-friendly curriculum
Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive training environment
Assist with student retention and program growth
Coordinate schedules and communicate professionally with gym management
Requirements
Proven experience teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi & No-Gi)
Recognized rank (brown or black belt preferred, but strong instructors at other ranks will be considered)
Strong communication and leadership skills
Professional, reliable, and community-oriented
Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
Compensation & Structure (Flexible)
We are open to discussing one of the following models:
Option 1: Employee / Contractor (Per Class Pay)
$50–$80 per class, depending on experience and class size
2–5 classes per week to start
Ideal for instructors who want steady teaching without running the business side
Option 2: Revenue Share
60–70% of BJJ membership revenue to the instructor/program
Gym provides space, utilities, scheduling, and cross-promotion
Ideal for instructors looking to grow a program without full overhead
Option 3: Sublease / Program Operator
Monthly sublease for upstairs mat space (rate negotiable)
Full control over branding, pricing, and curriculum
Ideal for an established BJJ coach or team
Option 4: Gym Partnership
Partnership with an existing BJJ program looking to expand
Shared marketing and cross-training opportunities with Muay Thai
Terms to be discussed based on scope and vision
Schedule
Flexible
Evening and weekend availability preferred
