Position Overview:
We are seeking a Plant Manager to join our Calgary team. Reporting to the Senior Operations Director – Western Canada, this role is responsible for overall manufacturing performance and the day-to-day operations of the Calgary facility. The Plant Manager will play a key role in driving continuous improvement in collaboration with the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for all manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality production across the facility.
- Establish and sustain a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with company standards and Canadian occupational health and safety legislation.
- Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Own site level performance across safety, quality, service, cost, and delivery, implementing sustainable improvement plans to achieve business objectives.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high‑performing leadership team, building capability, accountability, and succession strength.
- Serve as the primary operational leader within a unionized environment, fostering positive labour relations and effective workforce engagement.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety and quality standards, including HACCP and GFSI‑recognized programs, while maintaining audit‑ready operations.
- Oversee production planning, maintenance strategy, and capital investment planning to support short‑ and long‑term operational goals.
- Manage operating and capital budgets, ensuring disciplined cost control, resource optimization, and return on investment.
- Partner cross‑functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, HR, and Commercial teams to align operational execution with enterprise priorities.
- Represent the facility as a leader within the broader organization, contributing to regional and national operational strategies.
- Execute additional responsibilities as required to support business growth and operational excellence.
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management preferred
- Minimum of seven years of progressive plant management experience, ideally within a large food manufacturing or bakery environment
- Proven experience managing large operating and capital budgets with strong financial discipline
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and engage high‑performing teams
- Results‑driven mindset with strong knowledge of KPIs, performance metrics, and safety systems
The annual salary range for applicants is: $110,000- $140,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other factors.
