Head of Learning
Lead learning. Shape futures. Drive transformation.
Burges Salmon is at an inflection point. As the legal landscape evolves - shaped by AI, digital transformation, and shifting client expectations - we're building a learning culture that doesn't just keep pace, but leads the way.
We're looking for a visionary Head of Learning & Development who can see around corners, anticipate what's next, and equip our people with the skills to thrive in tomorrow's world.
The opportunity
This isn't a traditional L&D role. You'll have the autonomy and platform to reimagine what learning looks like in a modern professional services firm. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with senior leaders, you'll shape strategy, drive cultural change, and build programmes that matter - from leadership development and digital upskilling to technical excellence.
You'll lead a talented, multi-disciplinary team who are passionate about creating exceptional learning experiences. Together, you'll harness the latest technologies - AI, digital platforms, and innovative content delivery - to make learning engaging, scalable, and genuinely transformational.
What You'll Bring
You're an experienced L&D leader who's done this before but with an appetite for continuous improvement. You've led high-performing teams, driven change in complex environments, and know how to influence without authority. You're as comfortable presenting to the Board as you are rolling up your sleeves to design a brilliant programme.
You think strategically but act pragmatically. You're data-driven, future-focused, and energised by the possibilities that technology brings. You understand the nuances of partnership environments and can navigate ambiguity with confidence and diplomacy.
Most importantly, you're a people person. You build trust quickly, listen with intent, and inspire others to step up and deliver their best work. You see potential everywhere - and you know how to unlock it.
Why this matters
Learning isn't a nice-to-have at Burges Salmon - it's central to our future strategy. We're trusted to tackle some of the most complex challenges in the sectors shaping tomorrow, and that takes people who are equipped, confident, and ready to lead.
As Head of L&D, you'll play a critical role in making that happen. You'll create the conditions for people to grow, take on bigger challenges, and deliver work that transforms futures for our clients and communities.
Why Burges Salmon?
We're a firm where ambition is encouraged and potential is nurtured. You'll find a culture built on trust, openness, and shared purpose - where bold ideas are welcomed, every voice matters, and people genuinely show up for each other.
We don't just talk about impact - we create it. Whether it's the work we do for clients, the contribution we make to our communities, or the careers we help build, we're driven by the belief that what we do should matter.
You'll work with curious, talented colleagues who challenge thinking, inspire excellence, and collaborate with real intent. And you'll have the backing, resources, and platform to make a genuine difference in a role that's as rewarding as it is stretching.
We're proud to be named RollOnFriday's '
