Water Distribution & Supply Co-op (8 months)
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to assist the Water division from May to December 2026. Reporting to the Manager of Water, this position will assist other licensed operators with daily operation and maintenance of the Town's Class III water supply and distribution system.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with the Operational staff assisting them their daily duties.
- Assist operators with station checks and maintenance.
- Assist operators with distribution system maintenance and repairs (main breaks, curb stop repair/replacement).
- Assist operators with sampling and taking of chlorine residuals.
- Hydrant painting and assisting operators with hydrant repairs.
- General housekeeping and maintenance of shop.
- Exercising system valves.
- Perform aspects of water quality monitoring and general operation.
- Perform general housekeeping as required.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a post-secondary Engineering Technology/Technician program (or equivalent).
- Must have an MOE Operator in Training license in Water Distribution & Supply by April 27, 2026.
- Possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, project/time management, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies, and the public.
- Valid Ontario class "G" Drivers license in good standing.
- Own or willing to purchase safety footwear as a pre-condition of employment.
- Able to submit a successful Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check as a pre-condition of employment.
The hourly rate for this position is $ rates) per hour.
