Job Duties
- Qualified applicants will be required to teach in the traditional areas of agriculture and food production, as well as program specialty areas based on current program needs.
- Ability to teach in other program areas is an asset.
- Select, design, update and construct educational courses and lab aids/materials.
- Manage his/her classroom/lab/activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students.
- Manage face-to-face, blended, and online courses to ensure an optimum learning environment for learners.
- Follow all academic regulations and/or policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and/or Moose Jaw Campus.
- Accommodate students with special learning needs.
- Pursue professional development opportunities and agricultural industry relationships to keep current with industry and educational requirements.
- Practice good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent "team" environment, including the Co-operative Education Department.
- Prepare and use appropriate delivery methods for instructing courses as assigned.
- Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress.
- Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.
- Attend staff, program and division meetings.
- Assist in/arrange for equipment maintenance within the program.
- Assist in conducting and maintaining inventory, and in ordering supplies, equipment and books.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
- Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or related Bioscience Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Post graduate training would be considered an asset.
- Two years recent/relevant agriculture experience, preferably in an academic or research setting, including working knowledge/familiarity with agriculture in a Western Canadian context (e.g. relevant crop rotations and management practices).
- Experience in customizing and adapting curriculum to client needs, both for content and delivery.
- Hold or willing to obtain Professional Agrologist (PAg) status with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.
- Effective communication (both oral and written) skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Effective instructional ability.
- Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software, familiarity with learning management systems, and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
- Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
- Demonstrates valuing diversity.
