Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Owner-Operator Driver to join our distribution team. The successful candidate will safely and efficiently operate a 5-ton reefer truck, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries across assigned routes.
This role provides the independence of owner-operator work while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism. For qualified candidates, the company is open to arrangements for use of a company-owned 5-ton reefer truck for the first 1–3 months for a fee.
Candidates with experience operating 5-ton trucks, handling freight, and using power jacks and dollies are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 5-ton reefer truck to transport and deliver freight along designated routes
- Sort, pick, load, and unload cargo using power jacks, two-wheel dollies, and other handling equipment as required
- Ensure all freight is properly secured and maintained at required temperature levels
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections and routine vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and safety
- Maintain accurate delivery records, logs, and inspection reports
- Comply with all federal, provincial, and local transportation regulations, including safety and hours-of-service requirements
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding schedules, delays, or delivery issues
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with Air Brake Endorsement and a clean driving record
- Proven experience operating 5-ton trucks, including use of power jacks and dollies
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting and freight handling
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and minor repairs is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for documentation and compliance
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, with the option to hire helpers or drivers while following safety protocols
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: $144,000.00 per year
