Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Flagger/Labourer to join our team. The Flagger/Labourer will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both workers and the public at construction sites. This position involves directing traffic, setting up signage, and communicating effectively with team members and drivers to maintain a safe working environment. Although our office is located in Steinbach, the position will be dependent on the location of the job site. You must have a valid driver's license and a reliable mode of transportation to get to and from work.
Responsibilities
- Direct traffic around construction zones using appropriate hand signals and signage.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barriers.
- Communicate clearly with other flaggers and work crews using radios or hand signals.
- Monitor traffic conditions and respond appropriately to changing situations.
- Follow safety regulations and company procedures at all times.
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents to a supervisor immediately.
Some general labourer duties may be required on a day-to-day basis such as:
- Assisting Site Supervisors on daily operations.
- Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor, which includes but is not limited to moving and organizing materials as well as equipment onsite.
- Assist with clean up, sorting, and distribution of materials.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Flagger or in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
