The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate's experience, education, training, and alignment with the role's requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.
The Social Media Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping and elevating Toronto Hydro's social media presence. This role is responsible for developing and executing Toronto Hydro's social media strategy to strengthen brand visibility and foster a positive customer experience. The incumbent will lead the creation and delivery of compelling content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook and LinkedIn, ensuring content aligns with brand standards and strategic goals. The incumbent should be a proactive, confident communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of social media strategy from concept to execution.

Key Responsibilities
- Develops and delivers creative, targeted social media campaigns and content that strengthen Toronto Hydro's brand presence, support corporate strategy, and drive audience engagement
- Drives public engagement and ensures brand consistency across Toronto Hydro's social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Proactively identifies emerging trends, platform updates and new opportunities to elevate engagement and brand presence
- Conceptualizes and produces engaging, platform-specific multimedia content
- Monitors social media channels and analyzes performance data to identify trends and opportunities, making strategic recommendations to enhance engagement and grow audience
- Ensures digital content is accessible and meets Toronto Hydro's brand and style guidelines
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field
- Five (5) or more years of experience developing multimedia digital content and owning social media strategy
- Demonstrated experience managing and creative social media strategy and content across various platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok
- Experience managing content on platforms including Reddit and YouTube
- Strong visual storytelling skills and proficiency in basic graphic design and video editing tools (including mobile-first tools such as CapCut)
- Knowledge of user experience (UX) and customer experience (CX) principles, with the ability to apply them to digital content and engagement strategies
- Exceptional writing skills, particularly when communicating complex topics
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong relationship management skills
- Strong project management skills and proven ability to analyze data for insightful reporting
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to work independently and take initiative to drive projects and new ideas forward
- Adaptable and resourceful, with a positive, solutions-focused mindset
- Enthusiastic about innovation and staying ahead of social media trends

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
