Position Summary

Jane's Cannabis Shop is seeking a Store Supervisor to act as the designated leader in the store. Ownership remains actively involved and retains full responsibility for operations, HR, and regulatory compliance.

The Store Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership on the sales floor, supports customer experience, reinforces store standards, and serves as a reliable point of contact for staff when issues arise.

Hours of Work

Jane's Cannabis Shop operates in an extended-hours retail environment. This position requires flexibility in scheduling. The successful candidate must be available to work a mix of morning and evening shifts, with regularly scheduled weekend work.

Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays and may vary based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership & Floor Supervision

  • Act as the leader on duty during assigned shifts
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of budtenders and keyholders
  • Assign tasks and priorities based on store needs
  • Coach staff in the moment on professionalism, product knowledge, and sales approach
  • Support onboarding and ongoing staff learning

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Ensure customers receive friendly, knowledgeable, and compliant service
  • Step in to resolve customer questions or concerns as needed
  • Lead by example in sales conversations and customer engagement
  • Reinforce a strong focus on customer experience and store reputation

Standards, Compliance & Accountability

  • Ensure store policies, SOPs, and compliance standards are followed
  • Address issues as they arise and escalate to ownership when required
  • Reinforce expectations consistently across the team
  • Support store opening and closing procedures

Coaching & Documentation

  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
  • Deliver owner-prepared corrective feedback
  • Review expectations with staff and obtain acknowledgements
  • Communicate staff issues, observations, and trends to ownership

Off-Site Support & Reliability

  • Be available by phone or message to support staff with urgent store-related issues
  • Assist closing staff with decision-making when issues arise
  • Step in to cover shifts when necessary to maintain store operations

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum provincial age requirement (19+)
  • Valid CannSell Certification
  • Must have, or be able to complete, a Police / Criminal Background Check
  • Minimum of 2 years of retail experience (cannabis retail experience considered an asset)
  • Demonstrated sales and customer service orientation
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and motivate staff
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Ability to monitor performance and lead by example
  • Basic office administration and retail technology skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional, diplomatic, and customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
