About the role

We're looking for a Product Owner to join our Contact Billing Team

We are seeking a dedicated professional with a strong understanding of agile methodologies and a background in product management to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the future of our contact billing products, collaborating closely with business and technical teams.

What you'll do here:

  • Backlog Planning & Health:

    • Define and outline the purpose of epics, collaborating with Business Analysts (BAs) to set development timelines, start, and end dates.

    • Assign and prioritize backlog items, ensuring alignment with team's skills, capacity, and major dependencies.

    • Conduct story mapping and estimation, entering stories into Jira, and ensuring the backlog is well-ordered and communicated to stakeholders.

  • Product and Sprint Management:

    • Focus on the "why" behind each backlog item, understanding its business impact and alignment with the product vision.

    • Collaborate with the Scrum Master to resolve impediments and guide the team toward achieving Release/Sprint goals.

    • Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies and ensure stakeholder communication regarding progress and deadlines.

  • Team Leadership and Guidance:

    • Lead and inspire the team to deliver best-in-class products and meet project/deliverable success.

    • Provide encouragement and guidance to ensure effective and efficient project execution.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Communicate effectively using appropriate vocabulary to convey ideas clearly, participating actively in discussions and fostering good working relationships.

    • Collaborate with various teams on the strategy for rolling out new products or features and provide/seek support from peers regarding backlog planning and squad issues.

  • Adaptability and Change Management:

    • Act as a positive change agent, influencing others to adopt new approaches and demonstrating comfort with ambiguity and evolving environments.

  • Product Requirements and Quality:

    • Lead the evaluation and acceptance of product deliverables, ensuring adherence to acceptance criteria during sprint review.

    • Mitigate risks by identifying product quality concerns and proposing suitable actions.

  • Product Vision and Strategy:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and validate product vision, strategy, and requirements.

    • Convey the vision and goals to the team, ensuring alignment with the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and project/program vision.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education & relevant experience will be considered.

  • Typically requires between 5 and 8 years of experience.

  • Experience working in product mode and project mode (an asset)

  • Insurance background (an asset).

  • CSPO or Product Owner certification (an asset).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written).

  • Planning methodology and relevant experience with proven knowledge of Agile methodology.

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Jira.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects in teams or in a matrix environment (multitasking).

  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.

Important:  Working hours are based on Eastern Time Zone.
