Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chemist to join our R&D team in Montreal. This role focuses on the development of cutting-edge flux medium chemistries for solder pastesfor next-generation electronic assembly applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in organic chemistry and a passion for innovation.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop solder paste and flux formulas in compliance with IPC and customer specifications.
- Conduct research on new raw materials and chemical interactions to improve performance and reliability.
- Participate in pre‑production to help transition the formulations to the pilot plant and full-scale manufacturing, including support during plant trials or start of production.
- Apply technical competence and knowledge gained from past experiences to generate new ideas that leads to innovative products.
- Participate in the analysis and search for causes of nonconformities and the devising of corrective action needed to ensure that defects do not re‑occur.
- Create and maintain all documentation to develop and commercialize the products (e.g. lab notebooks, specifications, technical test data etc.).
- Analyze consumer research to translate consumer insights into innovative approaches from a formulation standpoint.
- Support products throughout their life cycle, developing and implementing changes as needed.
- Work professionally, autonomously, and effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Consistently complete work in a timely manner and meet deadline.
- Stay current with industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies in soldering and flux chemistry.
- Perform other tasks as assigned and needed to meet customer and/or department expectations.
Qualifications
- Ph.D.(preferred) or master's degreein chemistry or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years in chemical R&D, ideally in developing fluxes, soldering materials, adhesives, coatings, surface chemistry or related industries.
- Experience in formulation development and chemical analysis techniques.
- Strong knowledge of organic/inorganic chemistry principles applied to industrial formulations.
- Understanding of IPC standards and electronic material compliance (preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration.
