About the AI Platform TeamThe AI Platform team is responsible for making large language models (LLMs) accessible, reliable, and production-ready for our engineering organization. This team has already shipped industry-leading LLMs tailored for legal workflows, extracting and synthesizing insights from complex client documents at scale.
You'll operate at the crossroads of backend engineering, applied AI, and experimentation—working alongside data scientists, researchers, and product engineers to deliver dependable, cutting-edge systems used every day.
What You'll Do- Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable backend systems and infrastructure powering LLM-driven products
- Own initiatives end-to-end, from initial design through deployment, monitoring, and continuous iteration
- Develop and evolve internal platforms to enable engineering teams to use generative AI safely and efficiently
- Collaborate closely with data science, research, and product engineering teams on high-impact projects
- Translate stakeholder requirements into robust, well-architected solutions that scale
- Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code with a modern backend stack (including Python, Postgres, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and related technologies)
- Establish and promote engineering best practices in reliability, observability, performance, and security
- Extensive experience developing backend frameworks, libraries, or distributed systems with a strong emphasis on reliability and performance
- Demonstrated success delivering production-quality software, including APIs, infrastructure, and data-intensive systems
- Excellent system design abilities and a proven track record of owning and delivering complex engineering projects
- Comfort navigating fast-paced, startup environments with evolving needs
- Deep proficiency in Python, or significant experience with languages such as Go, Java, or C++
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, ownership-driven approach
- Experience working with LLMs, AI platforms, or machine learning infrastructure
- Background in legal technology or other regulated industries
- Passion for mission-driven or social impact work
