MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Journeyman Welder/Fitter

· Weld within the parameters of WPDS

· Read and interpret welding blueprints and symbols

· Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications

· Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines

· Fit as required

· Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate and repair metal parts and products

· Operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment while observing safe operating procedures

· Maintain machinery and equipment they work with

· Other duties as required

· Follow Safe Job Practices and Procedures

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Concentration – Able to give their full attention to a project for long periods of time and committed to ensure all aspects are completed correctly.

· Detail-Orientation – Thorough in the work and does not overlook anything that could have larger, unwanted effects

· Eyesight – Sharp vision and able to see intricate details in a work area

· Knowledge of Metallurgy – Very familiar with various types of metals, their physical properties and how to work with them

· Knowledge of Tools and Equipment – Experience with a variety of welding tools and equipment. As well as know how to most effectively use the tools to get the job done quickly in a safe manner.

· Manual Dexterity – Has excellent manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination to perform the completed physical maneuvers required in welding

· Knowledge of Various Welding Techniques – Thorough knowledge of different techniques

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

· Minimum High School Diploma

Weld all positions

CWB Certified

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

· Capable of reading blueprints, drawing specs, manuals and processes

· Knowledge and experience using Overhead Cranes

· Must be capable of using grinders, cutting torches and other equipment used to handle structural metal

· Knowledge and experience with metal processing

· Knowledge and experience with Arc Welding machines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34.00 per hour
