Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.
Technology and Infrastructures (T&I) is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose.
CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly-regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we're transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force. T&I is the team making it happen.

This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with the hiring managers per departmental guidelines.
What you'll do?
Reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering.

If you are a relationship-driven person who thrives in a collaborative, open and transparent culture and is deeply committed to enhancing the employee experience, this is the job for you

In this role, you will serve as a strategic leader and a driving force for your team. Your primary mission is to provide strategic direction and a cross-functional vision for a family of products designed to optimize our daily production workflows across the entire storytelling life cycle, from content acquisition through to distribution.

This role is a cornerstone of our digital agility transformation, leveraging a dedicated team of subject matter experts to deliver on all aspects of the mandate.

Working closely with our business partners, you will be responsible for developing and executing a product strategy focused on the following pillars:

  • Establish objectives and key results (OKRs) for the division in conjunction with the Senior Director and the leadership team.
  • Work with teams and partners to define and articulate a clear vision for the product portfolio, so as to guide and prioritize investments that align with our long-term strategy.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify innovation opportunities and incorporate them into the product strategy.

Financial Management and Partnerships

  • Manage large-scale strategic investments and oversee the selection process for technology solutions and vendor partnerships.
  • Assist in developing governance processes that align with the division's operational context.
  • Lead change management initiatives, including training and professional development programs.

Team Leadership and Product Governance

  • Supervise a team of product managers, senior product managers and technical specialists, supporting their career growth and professional development.
  • Communicate priorities, strategy and milestones clearly to the relevant in-house teams, partners, contributors and stakeholders.

Play an active leadership role on the product family management committee, collaborating with business representatives from across the organization.

To excel in this role, you must demonstrate extensive experience in planning, organizing and engaging multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams. You must also demonstrate the ability to collaborate and build trust with a wide range of business partners and technical teams to ensure seamless product delivery.

This position requires a keen ability to navigate complex issues, a sharp strategic mindset and the ability to distil and communicate information clearly and effectively to any audience.

What's in it for you?
Cutting-edge technology. We are a global leader in broadcasting and production technology, known for our ability to drive innovation and influence the industry. We are trailblazers in defining and implementing pioneering ways of working, leveraging the latest IP technologies to unlock further opportunities. Joining CBC/Radio-Canada offers you the chance to build a world-class career using tools and workflows that set the gold standard for media organizations everywhere.

Being part of an engaged team and a diverse, inclusive organization. We believe in celebrating human differences and know that there's no other path to becoming the best public broadcaster for all Canadians. There's still more work to be done, and we are deeply committed to putting all of our corporate, individual and collective efforts into doing the work. As a member of the leadership team, you will participate in diversity and inclusion initiatives and join forums with your peers to help shape the future of our organization. Under the guidance of the Senior Director, Engineering, you will help define both the work we do and how we do it.

Professional growth. We are an innovation-focused organization full of curious, lifelong learners. You will have the opportunity to drive change, from generating new ideas to executing them. Your well-being is a priority — we want to ensure you are happy in and out of the office. We offer a rare-in-tech work-life balance; professional development opportunities internally and externally, including the chance to attend or speak at conferences; and the support of your manager to pursue the next steps in your career.

What you bring?
