Position: Youth Addictions Worker- Full-time

Wage: $19.01 per hour

Neecheewam Inc. has a full-time position available at Eagle Embracing You Treatment Centre, shifts will be from Tuesday to Saturday from 3:00 pm till 11:00 pm.

Eagle Embracing You Healing Lodge is a four-bed facility providing short term (2-8 weeks) healing space for female and female-identifying youth ages 12-17 who are experiencing a multitude of issues such as: mental health concerns, life threatening addictions, complex traumas, and many other obstacles. Our goal is to provide individualized care, as barrier-free access to services, and an Indigenous approach to healing. Eagle Embracing You Healing Lodge works to create plans for the youth, with the youth. Staff will walk along-side the youth as they navigate their healing journey. As youth enter into relationship with the team at Eagle Embracing You, we will begin to build a care plan with the input from the youth and other important collaterals, as identified by the youth.

Our vision: Children and Youth placed with Neecheewam will benefit from an Indigenous perspective and approach, with the goal of family reunification wherever possible. External factors impacting families in both the past and present have resulted in outcomes of colonial violence and trauma that require healing. Indigenous way of nurturing the young people we work with will help repair and restore relationships, foster health, and wellbeing, encourage and practice spiritualty and connectedness through ceremony and realize their potential in pursuit of self-determination and a renewed sense of self-esteem.

Key Qualifications Required:

Ø Child & Youth Care Diploma preferred. Experience working with children, at-risk and sexually exploited youth.Education of youth with addiction and substance abuse.

Ø Knowledge and appreciation of the Indigenous Culture and Traditions. Strong knowledge of the issues affecting our children, families, and communities.

Ø Have demonstrated leadership qualities and must be able to work independently and as a valued team member and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Ø Ability to conduct oneself in a professional capacity when dealing with all CFS Agencies or any other related external organizations.

Ø Organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills are necessary and possess a high level of advocacy skills.

Ø Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be confident in decision making.

Ø Valid Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check are required to be completed within 3 months

Ø Valid First Aid/CPR is required.

Ø Manitoba valid driver's license and driver's abstract is required.
