About Us

We are an award winning and growing Legal Tech SaaS company, recently selected as a Top 10 Canadian Legaltech Startup to Watch in 2026, transforming how law firms scope and price their services. With a product in-market, an expanding customer base, and a huge opportunity ahead, we are looking for a
Software Engineer – Technical Lead
to take ownership of our technical operations and drive the company through its next stage of growth, with the support and collaboration of our Fractional CTO.

This is an opportunity to build, scale, and shape the future of legal tech in a business that has proven traction and is primed for acceleration.

What We're Looking For

  • Full-Stack Technical Leadership
: You've worked across backend, infrastructure, and data analysis—and love being hands-on while thinking big-picture, including working with data-driven and analytics-focused features

  • Ruby on Rails & AWS Expertise
: Experience in building, maintaining, and scaling applications in a cloud-based environment.

  • Startup Experience
: You have experience building, leading, and scaling technology in an early-stage or high-growth startup environment. You thrive in fast-moving, resourceful teams where adaptability and ownership are key.

  • AI Enthusiast
: You're excited about leveraging applied AI across the business — from enhancing pricing intelligence and analytics to supporting AI pilots and data-driven decision-support features.

What You'll Do

As Software Engineer – Technical Lead, you will oversee all technical aspects of the business while collaborating closely with the CTO for strategic alignment, mentorship, and additional technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and Evolve Our Core Product

  • Own the ongoing development and maintenance of our Ruby on Rails application.
  • Build new features, improve system architecture, and ensure high availability.
  • Contribute significantly to applied AI initiatives, including AI pilots focused on pricing intelligence, data analysis, and decision-support features, from early experimentation through to production-ready implementation.

Collaborate Cross-Functionally & Drive Business Impact

  • Participate in operational and strategic meetings, combining technical, business, and market insights to drive the company forward.
  • Work closely with leadership, sales, and customer success to align technology with business growth.

Support and Scale Our Technical Infrastructure

  • Work alongside our CTO to ensure AWS infrastructure is secure, scalable, and reliable.
  • Contribute to optimizing performance, cost-efficiency, and resilience of our cloud-based systems.

Why Join Us?

  • Modern, Well-Architected Codebase
    – You'll be stepping into a Rails 8 application with strong test coverage, minimal technical debt, and modern tooling (including ViewComponent and Hotwire), giving you a very solid foundation to build and scale from.

  • Ownership & Impact (with CTO Support)
    – You'll have autonomy as the technical lead while benefiting from the strategic guidance and experience of our CTO.

  • Proven Business Model
    – We have a product in-market and a growing customer base—this is an opportunity to scale, not start from scratch.

  • Big Market, Big Opportunity
    – The legal industry is undergoing a massive transformation—you'll help define the future of legal tech pricing.

  • Future Leadership Growth
    – As the company expands, this role offers the potential to build and lead a technical team.
