Lead Electrical Designer

With offices in Perth, Brisbane, Toronto, Manila & Tanzania ECG has the capability to design and deliver on complex projects, from early study work to commissioning and handover, drawing on the expertise of senior ECG personnel who have worked together for 30 + years.

We require a Lead Electrical Designer to join the ECG Engineering Toronto team contributing to the design of a range of mineral processing related projects. The Lead Electrical Designer will provide leadership to members of the Drafting team applying design and drafting solutions and standards for clients across a range of projects, as well as work with the Engineering team to create detailed electrical drawings and plans using CAD applications

The role will be Toronto based, working with an established design team, however there may be occasional input on the studies and reports of our Perth and Brisbane office, as well as the coordination of works from our engineering office in Manila.

To be considered for the role of Lead Electrical Designer, you need solid design experience on complex high value electrical projects, utilizing Autocad 3D.

The tasks you'll perform:

· Apply ECG quality standards and processes for all drawings and plans.

· In association with the Engineers, monitor site construction activities to ensure adherence to design deliverables generated for the project.

· Work with project engineers to create and update single line diagrams, schematics, PLC logic diagrams, switchboard panel layouts, P&ID's and project design documents etc. for client projects.

· Manage the co-ordination of project drafting requirements. Provide guidance and support to more junior drafting team members.

· Carry out Vendor document and drawing reviews as needed.

· Involvement with Factory Acceptance Testing and site visits as required.

· Provide guidance and support to more junior drafting team members.

· Ensure drafting outputs comply with appropriate statutory regulations and client requirements.

· Address technical queries via the ECG Project Manager and ensure feedback of any change is provided to the Design team in enough detail to support deliverable revisions.

· Maintain and control full records in accordance with project requirements.

· Provide reports as required by the ECG Project or Design Manager.

The expertise you'll bring:

· Advanced knowledge of and experience with electrical drafting CAD applications

o AutoCAD (essential)

o AutoCAD Electrical (preferred)

o Microstation (preferred)

o Microstation Aecosim (preferred)

o Excel (essential)

· Extensive electrical design experience (essential)

· Mineral processing plant construction experience (preferred)

· Experience allocating work and leading drafting teams

· Understanding and experienced with safe working systems as they apply to mineral processing plants and international standards.

· Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications, including:

o Standards

o Single Line Diagrams

o Schematic Diagrams

· Familiar with the relevant IEC and / or Australian Standards applicable to mineral processing plants.

· Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.

· Good written and verbal communication skills.

· Good people skills.

· Excellent attention to detail.
