Description

Barber Collins security is looking for a casual Security Guard to work at a shipping and receiving facility in London, ON. The casual guard must have open availablity and flexibility for any shift.

This site has limited bus route access so candidates must have their own personal car to get to and from the work site.

Shifts:

Must be able to commit to the assigned schedule consisting of:

  • Open to various hours shifts of days, evenings and nights. Must be available weekdays/weeknights, weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Casual position
  • hours per week (this is not guaranteed)
  • Weekend availibity is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct occasional foot patrols.
  • Protect company's property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
  • Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates.
  • Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment.
  • Access control for the facility/area.
  • Log in and allow access to trucks and trailers
  • Demonstrating judgement, common sense, and decision-making ability, particularly when required to take charge and direct others in emergencies or other incidents.
  • Input employee information into card access system. Make access cards.
  • Keep site supervisor, Operations Manager aware of operational issues

Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position.
  • Trained Security Guard with a diploma in a related field.
  • Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols.
  • Surveillance skills and detail orientation.
  • Integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to operate security equipment/systems, computers, radios, phones.
  • Meticulous record keeping, report writing, observation skills.
