Job Description
As a Shipbuilder, you'll support the trades teams and keep the yard moving by reading and interpreting drawings and work orders; assisting with painting, installing insulation, pre-cutting cabling, and driving trucks; performing metal finishing such as grinding and making, cleaning, and polishing bevels; maintaining housekeeping standards in tanks, vessel interiors, shops, trailers, and washrooms while handling waste; and managing the handling and movement of materials (cement, sand, snow, grass, water, and more). You will also ensure quality control by reporting any non-conformities, set up and maintain tools and equipment, operate forklifts and other mobile equipment, and carry out any other related duties assigned by your supervisor, in full compliance with our quality standards.

Compensation

  • $30.53/hour for the first 1,000 hours, then $33.74/hour.
  • Overtime paid at double time.

Work Schedule

  • Day: 4-day workweek, 10 hours per day
  • Evening: 4-day workweek, 10 hours per day + $2.00/hour premium
  • Weekend: 3-day workweek, 12 hours per day + $2.50/hour premium

You must be available for all shifts. While we consider your schedule preferences (day, evening, weekend) when creating schedules, they cannot be guaranteed.

At Davie, we know that moving is a big change
. To welcome you to the region, we offer a relocation allowance for unionized production and maintenance employees: up to $2,500 for a single person or couple, and $4,000 for a family. Requirements
To maintain the quality of our operations,
you must have one of the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, OR
  • ASP card for labourers OR
  • DEP in a related field OR
  • Experience in an industrial environment (asset).
  • Successful completion of the security clearance process required under the Federal Government Contract Security Program (minimum 5 years of continuous residence in Canada with no interruption longer than 6 consecutive months).
