The City of Brooks requires a Recreation Operator I, II or III in the Recreation Services Department.
Job Details & Responsibilities:
As the Recreation Operator, you will be responsible for the operations and maintenance, including custodial duties, of both the JBS Canada Centre and Centennial Regional Arena. You will participate fully in all recreation activities including the operation of machinery, equipment and vehicles as required. You will also be responsible for all aspects of both arena operations and maintenance, including custodial duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Level I ($26.17 to $28.62 per hour)
- High School Diploma;
- Class 5 Driver's License;
- Clean Driver's Abstract;
- Standard First Aid and CPR;
- Minimum of one (1) to six (6) months of experience in maintenance operations;
- Arena Operator Level 1 Certification is an asset, and,
- Zamboni Ice Maintenance experience is an asset.
- Level II ($28.62 to $31.33 per hour)
- All requirements for Level I;
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in maintenance operations;
- Arena Operator Level 2 Certification;
- Building Maintenance Level 1;
- Confined Space Certificate;
- Fall Protection Certification; and,
- Supervisory certification or experience.
- Level III ($31.33 to $34.32 per hour)
- All requirements for Level II;
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience in maintenance operations;
- Advanced Pool Operator Certificate;
- Building Maintenance 2 Certificate;
- Life Cycle Risk Management Certificate; and,
- Western Certification through Recreation Facility Personnel.
Compensation & Benefits:
- The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefits package, with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032.
- The 2025 salary range for this position is $26.17 to $34.32 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
- This is a full-time position with shift, weekend, and overtime hours of work.
