About Us: EARVSS provides essential support to victims of crime and tragic circumstances. As a Court and Support Navigator, you'll play a crucial role in offering frontline services to those in need, working closely with our police agency partners and other stakeholders to ensure victims receive the support they deserve.

Roles and Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Assistant Directors of Operations or appointed leader, the Court and Support Navigator will be responsible for:

Integral Member of the Front-line Services Team:

  • Collaborating with team members to fulfill the mission, mandate, and service delivery goals of EARVSS.
  • Providing input into operational policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organizational standards.
  • Offering leadership, mentorship, and guidance to new team members and volunteer advocates.

Provision of Information, Support, and Referrals to Victims:

  • Offering immediate emotional and practical support to victims to alleviate trauma.
  • Assisting victims in navigating the criminal justice system and understanding their rights and responsibilities.
  • Providing referrals to appropriate community and government support services.
  • Conducting follow-ups with clients to ensure awareness of available supports and services.

Police-Based Support:

  • Assisting individuals referred to Victim Services by helping them mitigate immediate distress.
  • Providing in-person support during crisis situations and throughout the investigative process.

Victims Assistance Program (VAP) Support:

  • Informing victims about services available through the Victims Assistance Program.
  • Assisting with the application process and facilitating referrals to VAP caseworkers.
  • Managing e-transfer and pre-paid debit card deployment, along with completing reporting requirements.

Court Navigation Support:

  • Offering navigation support to victims before, during, and after court proceedings.
  • Providing information on the court process and facilitating court orientation and accompaniment.
  • Educating victims on the restitution process and facilitating submission of Victim Impact Statements.

Case Management:

  • Conducting needs assessments with assigned caseload of victims.
  • Supporting and recording victim safety plans with an awareness of local resources.
  • Ensuring all interactions with victims are accurately documented.

Education and Advocacy:

  • Engaging in community outreach activities to build a strong network of partner agencies.
  • Acting as an advocate for victims to major criminal justice partners.
  • Participating in educational opportunities to maintain knowledge of provincial legislation and processes.

Volunteer Coordination and Supervision:

  • Facilitating recruitment, retention, and training of Volunteer Advocates.
  • Providing leadership and support to Volunteer Advocates through coaching, evaluation, and feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education in Health, Human Services, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years related client service experience, preferably with crisis/trauma.
  • Understanding of the Criminal Justice System is an asset.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • High degree of compassion and empathy towards individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
  • Completion of relevant training such as CPR/First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, and Online Victim Services Training.

Salary: $56,160-$67,392/year - base salary plus benefits package and retirement savings plan (based on a 1.0 fte).
