What's the position?

We're seeking a Senior Go Developer for a full-time, hybrid position based in our Toronto office. This role focuses on backend microservices development in a high-scale gaming and mobile application environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, refactor, and enhance a large existing Go codebase to improve performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability

• Lead and contribute to strategic refactoring initiatives, including analyzing and restructuring legacy components to align with modern architecture and clean-code principles.

• Identify and reduce technical debt through thoughtful design and adherence to best practices.

• Evaluate system designs, propose architectural improvements, and take initiative in system redesign efforts.

• Own the complete feature lifecycle—from requirements and technical planning to implementation, testing, and production delivery.

• Collaborate within a cross-functional development team, supporting shared codebases and contributing to new and existing features.

• Participate in code reviews and mentoring to uphold high engineering standards.

• Consistently deliver high-quality work on schedule and make a meaningful impact on system architecture and overall performance.

What are we looking for?

Technical Skills

• 5+ years of professional Go development experience**

• Strong understanding of Go concurrency patterns (goroutines, channels, mutexes)

• Experience with HTTP frameworks (Gin preferred)

• Proficiency with SQL databases and query optimization

• Knowledge of Redis and caching strategies

• Experience with Docker and containerization

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)

Software Engineering & Professional Skills

• Strong understanding of software design patterns and microservices architecture

• Proficiency with Git, testing methodologies (unit, integration, API), and monitoring/observability tools

• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills

• Comfort giving and receiving constructive code reviews

• Ability to work both independently and in team environments

Tech Stack Experience

• Languages: Go, SQL

• Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis

• Frameworks: Gin, SQLX, Testify

• ·Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes

• APIs: REST APIs, JWT, OAuth2

• Monitoring: Structured logging, observability tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with gaming or high-traffic consumer applications

• Knowledge of performance optimization and profiling in Go

• Experience with real-time systems and event-driven architectures

• Familiarity with casino gaming mechanics or player engagement systems
