Position Summary:

The Data Scientist develops and maintains artificial intelligence and analytic models to support organizational objectives. This role translates business needs into technical solutions, evaluates model performance, and ensures models are deployed and monitored effectively. Contributing to strategic initiatives by identifying opportunities for data-driven decision-making and guiding the organization's use of advanced analytics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifies opportunities to apply artificial intelligence and analytics to improve operations.
  • Develops, tunes and validates models using structured and unstructured data, ensuring they meet operational requirements and performance standards, including monitoring deployed models to maintain accuracy.
  • Performs feature engineering and sub-population analysis to improve model relevance and interpretability.
  • Provides input into compliance standards and risk metrics to support inspections and regulatory decisions.
  • Guides the lifecycle of artificial intelligence projects, including code storage, versioning and documentation.
  • Supports peer learning through model reviews and contributes to organization-wide analytics literacy.
  • Collaborates with data engineering teams to ensure data is organized and accessible for modelling.

Job Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Engineering or Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a quantitative or analytics role, including experience with large datasets and model development.
  • Strong background in statistical analysis and machine learning, with ability to apply techniques to real-world problems.
  • Proficiency in Python, R and SQL, with experience using Microsoft Azure, Dataiku and other modelling platforms.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI and knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value and communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with data governance, privacy and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement in solving complex problems.
