Health and Safety Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Provide safety training to employees on topics such as emergency response, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team. As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment for all employees. Your role will involve implementing safety policies, conducting inspections, and providing training to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.

  • Work with Sub trades to ensure we have all there required information on site.
  • Collaborate with management to develop emergency response plans and conduct drills
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Fabricate safety signs or equipment as needed
  • Document control
  • Kingston uses Sitedocs for its safety documentation. Successful proponent is expected to learn and utilize this software.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Level 3 first aid
  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Training development experience is a plus
  • Should be able to manage incidents and develop detailed incident reports
