Duration:
6-month contract with opportunity to extend
Location
: Downtown Toronto (4 day/week onsite)
NOTES:
- Currently using Dash Plotly, considering adoption of QuickSight
- No dedicated UX/UI designer → need someone who can think from a design perspective
- Web UI needs:
- Strong web development knowledge
- Ideally full-stack experience, but front-end only is acceptable
- Must be a UI expert
- CI/CD pipelines already established
- Role is not capital markets focused
- Primary gap: UI support
Why the Role is Open:
- Urgent need for additional engineering capacity to deliver projects within portfolio/trading technology.
- Net new contractors to help accelerate delivery timelines and support ongoing initiatives.
What They Will Accomplish (High-Level):
- Deliver scalable, efficient, and business-aligned software solutions for portfolio/trading systems.
- Ensure solutions integrate with cloud environments (AWS preferred).
- Support ongoing modernization and efficiency initiatives.
- Contribute to team knowledge transfer via demos, walkthroughs, and documentation.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Manage timelines and deliverables for projects within the team.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, operations staff, and technology peers to gather requirements.
- Design, develop, and test Python-based applications and web solutions.
- Implement cloud-native solutions and CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct application demos, walkthroughs, and provide documentation to support knowledge transfer.
- Perform unit and integration testing to ensure reliability and performance.
- Must balance hands-on coding with collaboration across business stakeholders (portfolio managers, traders, ops).
- Strong Python expertise required across full SDLC.
- Team requires quick ramp-up—limited bandwidth to train on core technologies.
Must-Haves:
- Strong Python development experience across full SDLC in enterprise environments.
- Proficiency with Agile/Scrum methodologies (Jira, Confluence, Git).
- Hands-on cloud experience (AWS strongly preferred).
- CI/CD pipeline implementation experience.
- Frontend
- Unit and integration testing expertise.
- Web development skills with Dash, Angular, or React.
Plusses / Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with BI tools (QuickSight preferred).
- Prior capital markets domain knowledge.
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Familiarity with Jupyter notebooks for data analysis and reporting.
