The Clinical Manager is responsible for advancing person-centred care as a strategic priority across the Regional Cancer Program and Juravinski Cancer Program, with a particular focus on planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating oncology patient education, patient reported outcomes and patient experience initiatives.
The Clinical Manager is the Regional Lead for Oncology Patient Education. In this capacity, this individual provides the leadership needed to build, foster and maintain quality patient education activities throughout the region, including:
• championing provincial initiatives at a the regional level;
• driving change and innovation in patient education and health literacy;
• aligning regional quality improvement initiatives with the Ontario Cancer Plan, as it relates to patient education, and;
• supporting improvements in person-centred care, in alignment with the Ontario Cancer Plan goal of Person-Centred: deliver responsive and respectful person-centred care, optimizing quality of life across the cancer care continuum.
The Clinical Manager is also the Regional Lead for the Ontario Cancer Symptom Management Collaborative (OCSMC). In this capacity, this individual supports the implementation and ongoing management of relevant Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) within the Regional Cancer Centre and partner sites, as well as advances quality improvement related to the results of symptom screening, patient experience surveys, chart audits and other data.
The Clinical Manager also provides programmatic oversight of the Psychosocial Oncology (PSO) Program across the region. In this capacity, this individual focuses on interventions to improve the patient experience, improve timely access to quality PSO care through the cancer continuum and reduce psychosocial morbidity related to unmet physical, emotional practical and spiritual needs.
1. Undergraduate degree in Nursing, Education, Management or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of health care management experience.
3. Health Care Professional training, such as nursing or social work would be an asset.
4. Experience in cancer care required.
5. Hold an active membership with the Cancer Patient Education Network (CPEN) (US and Canada).
6. Highly developed interpersonal, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
7. Demonstrated ability to lead change.
8. Demonstrated excellence in communication.
9. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
