Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian/Cleaner to join our Saint John team. As a Custodian/Cleaner, you will play a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both residents and visitors. This is a part-time position where attention to detail, dependability, and a strong work ethic are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing all common areas, including hallways, stairwells, elevators, restrooms, and lobbies.
- Clean and sanitize office spaces, meeting rooms, and other communal areas as required.
- Ensure floors, windows, walls, and ceilings are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
- Empty trash bins and recycling bins throughout the buildings and properly dispose of waste. Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal methods are followed.
- Sweep and clean exterior walkways, entrances, parking lots, and other common outdoor areas. Remove debris, leaves, and litter from building grounds.
- Regularly check for and report any maintenance issues. Report any unsafe conditions or maintenance issues to the property management team.
- Ensure custodial equipment is properly maintained and stored.
- Monitor and report any inventory needs for cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols while performing cleaning duties, including the proper use of chemicals and cleaning equipment.
- Assist with occasional deep cleaning or specialized cleaning projects as needed (e.g., carpet cleaning, window washing, etc.).
- Respond to any emergency cleaning needs promptly and efficiently.
- Provide excellent service to building tenants by maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.
- Be available to respond to requests or concerns from tenants regarding cleanliness or maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in custodial or cleaning work is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and safety procedures.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Skilled at navigating and utilizing digital tools (Buildium, Microsoft 365 etc.)
- Valid driver's license and must provide own vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in cleaning and/or residential maintenance.
