We currently have three locations in Thunder Bay, Ontario: St. Vincent school (150 Redwood Avenue West – offers infant through school age programming), St. Ann school (1130 Georgina Avenue – offers toddler through school age programming), and St. Elizabeth school (735 Selkirk Street – offers before and after school care only). We work as a cohesive team which means supporting each other and supporting our centres to be the best that we can be.

This position will work Monday through Friday within our hours of operation (7:30 AM to 5:30 PM). This would be a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.

This is a 3-month contract position covering for a leave of absence which has the possibility of extension.

The location of this role will be at our St. Ann site, filling a school age educator position. Placements are subject to change depending on program needs.

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent education and experience (other equivalent qualifications include a diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, a diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Services, or a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers)
• Membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
• Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Child Care and Early Years Act and the How Does Learning Happen? Pedagogical document
• Standard First Aid and CPR, level C (with infant and child CPR) certification from a WSIB-approved program
• Current (within 6 months) clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
• Up-to-date immunization record
• Knowledge of the Anishinaabemowin language and Indigenous traditions, teachings, and culture are assets
• Creative thinking with a flair for designing fun and educational programming

Compensation:

• Unqualified educators: $18.00-$23.50 hourly (based on experience/education)
• Qualified educators: $20.50-$25.75 hourly (based on experience/education)

In addition to the above, educators may also receive:

• Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant: up to $2.00/hr
• CWELCC Workforce Compensation Funding: ensures a minimum of $24.86/hr for RECEs, with potential to incerase up to the $27.00/hr wage ceiling
