Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mold maker to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining molds used in production processes. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with CAD software, and experience with CNC machinery. The Moldmaker will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality mold production and efficient manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modify molds using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Schematics.
• Operate CNC lathe, CNC milling machines, and other machining equipment to produce precise mold components.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Utilize hand tools, calipers, and welding equipment to assemble and repair molds.
• Program CNC machines for machining operations, including CNC programming tasks.
• Conduct inspections of machined parts using calipers and other measurement tools to ensure specifications are met.
• Troubleshoot mold issues during production and perform necessary repairs or modifications.
• Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including schematics and technical notes.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to optimize mold design and manufacturing processes.
• Guide and apprentice junior mold makers and machinists to maintain shop standards.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of [5] years of experience in mold making, preferably in an injection mold facility.
• Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC Lathes (Okuma OSP experience preferred). Ability to perform conversational programming at the machine for mold component fabrication.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in assembly, welding, and use of hand tools.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks for designing molds.
• Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and understand complex math related to machining tolerances.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to machining and mold fabrication.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience working with calipers, schematics, and assembly techniques.
• Prior experience in manufacturing or machining environments is preferred.
