Cloud Engineer - Datadog

Contract opportunity - 12 months

"Hybrid" work environment - 2 days per week in the Vancouver or Calgary office

Candidate can be in Vancouver OR Calgary

Seeking a Datadog administrator who can lead the observability strategy and then implement.

Keys to the role:

  • Someone with DataDog administration or operational experience, and understands how to leverage it in a production system (dashboards etc).

  • Good documentation skills

  • Good, professional personality

  • Solid experience with Azure suite, at infrastructure & software levels

As the focus areas of this role is observability you will need to possess comprehensive knowledge of concepts of observability and practical experience in Datadog. Additionally, we expect you to have knowledge of Azure cloud technologies, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD. You will be working closely with cross-functional development teams using agile methodologies and tools.

Desired skills & experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in Datadog in an Admin or Operational capacity, using products including configuration and cost management (more experience preferred, however)
  • 4+ years hands-on experience in a DevOps/SRE role
  • Practical experience in Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitOps, Datadog, Docker
  • Practical experience in the following technologies is preferred but not mandatory: ArgoCD, CI/CD w/Azure DevOps, Databricks, SQL
  • Proven experience in operating and managing a customer-facing cloud solutions involving observability, 24x7 support, performance and cost optimizations, tracking and meeting SLAs
  • Experience in working in remote teams independently, ready to speak up and ask for help, and able to follow processes to track work and complete tasks
  • Hands-on development experience in evaluating and building DevOps/SRE tooling (e.g. automation) to remove toil
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. ITIL, Cloud architecture) are a great asset

$60 - $75 per hour for an INC consultant, flexible depending on experience
