Job Description

Under the direction of the Front of House Management Team, Bar Backs provide essential support to the Bar Team to ensure efficient, organized, and seamless bar operations. Bar Backs maintain bar cleanliness, restock supplies, and support Bartenders in delivering consistent beverage quality and service standards. They demonstrate strong attention to detail, a high level of awareness of bar operations, and a working knowledge of beverage offerings and service procedures.

The Day to Day:

  • Support Bartenders by maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar at all times
  • Restock beer, wine, spirits, mixers, garnishes, ice, glassware, and bar supplies as required
  • Ensure all bar stations are properly set with correct mise en place prior to and during service
  • Assist with ice management, including refilling ice wells and transporting ice safely
  • Monitor bar cleanliness, ensuring all surfaces, tools, and equipment are sanitized and free from clutter
  • Collect, wash, and restock glassware in accordance with service flow and volume
  • Dispose of garbage and recycling, and change linen or bar mats as required
  • Communicate proactively with Bartenders and Management to anticipate operational needs
  • Follow all food safety, liquor service, and workplace health and safety standards
  • Maintain awareness of guest flow and bar volume to support timely service
  • Perform opening, running, and closing duties as assigned
  • Other duties as required to support the Bar Team and overall guest experience
Qualifications
  • SmartServe Certified
  • Prior barista experience is desirable
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to take direction and prioritize
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • High level of product knowledge
  • Ability to maintain a level of professional urgency
  • Ability to lift 25lbs+ and stand for the majority of the shift
  • Available weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
