Position Details

Nason Contracting Group Ltd. is currently seeking a highly skilled Journeyperson Pipefitters to fit piping into piperacks in our yard in Nisku. This position will be outdoors.

• Schedule Rotation: Monday to Friday

What You Will Be Working On

• Measure, cut, prep, and fit pipe spools according to isometric drawings
• Install piping into pipe racks, ensuring correct elevation, spacing, and alignment
• Bolt up flanges, fit gaskets, and tighten to proper torque
• Fit supports, guides, anchors, and spring hangers in the rack
• Assist crane/rigging crew with hoisting and placing spools into the pipe rack
• Verify pipe slopes, fall, and orientation based on drawings

• Perform accurate pipe layout and fitting for high-volume fabrication projects.

• Read and interpret complex blueprints, isometrics, and fabrication drawings with precision.

• Consistently achieve a minimum production target of 150 factored diameter-inches fit up per day with a tacker, without mistakes.

• Identify and resolve potential issues in drawings before fabrication begins.

• Perform hydrotesting on completed spools.

• Thread, bevel, and prepare pipe as required.

• Safely operate overhead cranes for material movement, loading trailers, and fabrication handling.

• Assist with shipping preparation, pipe loading, and organizing fabricated spools for delivery.

• Work collaboratively with welders, apprentices, and shop crew to maintain efficient shop flow.

• Mentor and guide apprentices as needed.

• Maintain safe work practices and uphold shop standards of quality, safety and efficiency.

What We Are Looking For

• CSTS 2020
• WHMIS 2015
• Valid Driver's License (not GDL)

• Journeyperson certification (Red Seal/recognized trade ticket required).

• Proven fabrication shop experience; field background considered if shop skills are strong.

• Exceptional blueprint and isometric reading skills with the ability to identify errors.

• Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed production fitting targets.

• Experience with hydrotesting procedures and documentation.

• Familiarity with pipe threading and shop equipment.

• Overhead crane experience with safe rigging/handling practices.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Leadership qualities with the ability to step into a Lead Hand role.

• Commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.

• Extensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
• The ability to lift, carry and handle weight up to 50lbs
• Must be organized, self-driven, and have ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
