The Director, Operations is responsible for driving operational excellence and supporting the performance of all Ontario mining operations and growth projects. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of Detour Lake and Macassa mines, while leading the integration and development of the Upper Beaver and Hammond Reef projects. The Director plays a critical role in advancing operational readiness, fostering sustainable business practices, and implementing strategies that strengthen the long-term success of Agnico Eagle's Ontario Region.

  • Provide support for the General Managers at the Detour Lake and Macassa mines, ensuring production targets, cost objectives, and safety standards are consistently achieved.
  • Lead the advancement of growth projects in Ontario through feasibility, permitting, construction, and operational readiness phases, aligning with corporate growth strategies.
  • Develop and execute regional business plans to optimize asset performance, unlock synergies, and position Ontario operations for long-term success.
  • Support budgeting, capital allocation, and cost management processes. Support the disciplined execution of capital projects and operational budgets.
  • Track KPIs across operations and projects, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing corrective actions to optimize performance. Support weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reporting requirements.

  • Bachelors Degree in Mine Engineering or Geology;
  • 15 years progressive experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management role;

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills;
  • Project management experience and the ability to prioritize multiple projects, relationships, tasks, and deadlines;
  • Highly collaborative, ensuring the balance of interests between key stakeholder groups. 

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule\: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at our Timmins Regional Office. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
