a Day In The Life
As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for our core set of strategic engineering pillars. In partnership with other senior leaders, you will work to establish and govern the practical and philosophical engineering best practices for all Engineers. You will provide overall technology guidance & mentorship and serve as a subject matter expert for primary business and technology stakeholders in Supply Chain domain.

  • Create and document the philosophies and best practices related to one or more core engineering pillars.
  • Partner with Principal Architects, Technology Directors and Divisional Executives to define and describe our future state engineering vision and maturity roadmap
  • Perform proof of concept (POC) solutions by exploring and validating new technologies, frameworks, or approaches to address key business priorities and challenges.
  • Dive deep into technical areas, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive measurable business value and inform future engineering strategy
  • Lead a Community of Practice and associated education efforts for a core engineering pillar
  • Research and summarize industry trends and practices; present recommendations based on findings when relevant
  • Ensure relevant engineering standards are created and maintained to support the maturity and reliability of our business systems
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture teams to guide platform development to support our product teams in engineering pillar implementation

Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor's degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Software Architecture preferred; candidates with substantial and relevant industry experience are also eligible
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in engineering
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing solutions for supply chain operations, covering production management, logistics, distribution, quality assurance, trade, and data analytics.
  • Deep experience with:

  • Multiple programming languages, including Java and Python

  • Architecting and optimizing application development frameworks such as Springboot
  • Highly distributed multi-region cloud-based technologies and services, including AWS Lambda, AWS S3, and other cloud native platforms
  • Data integration technologies
  • API-based system architecture
  • Architecting, optimizing and managing relational and NoSQL databases including MongoDB and Postgres
  • Containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
  • Infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform and Airflow
  • Designing and overseeing enterprise Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or analogous large-scale solutions
  • Enterprise technology procurement process

  • Track record of driving process reviews, leading continuous improvement programs, and implementing automation strategies that result in measurable efficiency gains and tool rationalization.

  • Expert analytical skills with the ability to proactively identify, diagnose, and architect solutions for complex production issues, and to mentor others in incident management best practices.
  • In-depth experience in leading security and compliance initiatives, including Sarbanes-Oxley audits, and establishing processes for ongoing risk management and regulatory adherence.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence in highly cross-functional and matrixed environments, fostering collaboration across infrastructure, network, development, product, and business units.
  • Champion of Agile methodologies with a history of driving Agile transformation initiatives, mentoring engineering leaders, and leveraging tools like Jira and Confluence to foster a culture of continuous improvement and transparency.

Compensation And Benefits Package
lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from
$181,800 - $237,000
annually
; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and equity offerings, subject to program eligibility requirements.
