About The Role
Myticas Consulting is supporting a leading optical communications company in the search for an experienced ASIC Design Engineer to join their expanding team in Ottawa. In this role, you will design and verify deep sub-micron ASICs and IP for next-generation, high-speed optical communication systems, working within an international, multi-site engineering organization.

You will focus on high-performance digital designs using VHDL/Verilog, advanced signal processing, and cutting-edge silicon technologies to enable state-of-the-art optical signal processing solutions. This is an opportunity to work on complex, production-grade ASICs that power high-bandwidth networks used around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop state-of-the-art ASIC devices and IP blocks for high-speed optical communication systems
  • Implement RTL in VHDL/Verilog and perform ASIC verification for production and tape-out projects
  • Apply deep sub-micron silicon technologies to meet aggressive performance, area, and power targets
  • Contribute to the architecture, specification, and documentation of digital blocks for optical signal processing and high-speed communication
  • Collaborate closely with international, multi-site engineering teams across different time zones throughout design, verification, and integration phases

Requirements

  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience in deep sub-micron ASIC design
  • At least 5 years of combined work and/or education experience in Canada in ASIC design, electronic engineering, or closely related fields
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Hands-on experience with VHDL and/or Verilog development and ASIC verification on production or tape-out projects
  • Experience designing ASIC devices or IP for high-speed communication or optical signal processing systems

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in high-speed analog or mixed-signal design for communication systems
  • Experience in digital signal processing (DSP) and forward error correction (FEC) design for communication or optical systems
  • Background collaborating with international, multi-site engineering teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
