Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and skilled Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to join our Emergency Department team. This vital role requires professionals who are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced, critical environment. The ideal candidates will possess a strong foundation in emergency medicine, acute care, and patient assessment, with the ability to adapt quickly to diverse clinical situations. As an integral part of our emergency services team, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure patient safety and comfort at all times.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Provide immediate emergency interventions, including airway management, IV insertion, medication administration, suturing, and aseptic technique adherence.
- Manage acute pain through appropriate protocols and collaborate with physicians on complex cases involving trauma medicine or Level I/II trauma center standards.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of diagnostic imaging results including CT scans and sonography.
- Support patients with diverse needs including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, memory care, hospice & palliative medicine, and patients with developmental disabilities or dementia.
- Participate in triage processes to prioritize patient care efficiently in urgent care or emergency room settings.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure accurate medical documentation for all patient interactions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care coordination for patients in assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
- Implement infection control practices and adhere to NCQA standards for quality assurance.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and updates in emergency medicine protocols.
Skills
- Proven experience in emergency medicine environments such as hospital ERs or trauma centers; Level I or II trauma center experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Strong clinical skills encompassing IV infusion, ventilator management, tube feeding, catheterization (including Foley and other urinary catheters), phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures.
- Knowledge of critical care practices including ICU experience and working with ventilators or neonatal ventilators when applicable.
- Familiarity with advanced procedures such as spinal taps (lumbar punctures), gastrostomy tube management, ostomy care, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to perform physical examinations confidently across age groups from pediatric to geriatric populations; experience with neonatal or infant care is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient assessment and education; experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is advantageous.
- Understanding of occupational health standards and workers' compensation law related to injury management within the emergency setting.
- Capable of working under pressure in high-stakes situations involving trauma medicine or acute pain management while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to internal medicine, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), infectious disease care, and geriatrics is beneficial. Join our team dedicated to delivering exceptional emergency nursing care that makes a difference every day
