The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a highly motivated
Geotechnical Engineering Student
intern to join our Ground Engineering and Materials Team based in the Yukon Territory. This position is available in our
Whitehorse
office. As a Geotechnical Engineering Student intern, a day in the life involves time spent in the field, and in our materials laboratory, in addition to working in office on projects and assignments related to geotechnical engineering. You will work closely with our professionals, collaborate with industry experts, and work on various large-scale projects throughout British Columbia and Yukon Territory.

What you can expect to do here:
- Perform all aspects of geotechnical investigations for buildings, highways, bridges, dams, tunnels, retaining walls, slope stability, and municipal infrastructure;
- Coordinate and carry out field review of construction works and material testing of geotechnical materials;
- Perform soil index testing and concrete testing in our laboratory;
- Assist our senior team in preparing proposals and technical reports; and
- Conduct geotechnical engineering analysis.
What You'll Bring To WSP…
- Enrolled as an undergraduate and completing a degree in Civil Engineering, or a graduate degree in Geo-Engineering discipline such as Geotechnical Engineering or Geological Engineering;
- Preference for experience in Geo-engineering field in Canada (not essential);
- Prior experience in consulting geotechnical engineering is considered an asset; and
- Openness to work away from the office and on project sites from time to time.

- Valid BC Driver's License;
- Strong technical, oral and written communication skills;
- Experience working in remote worksites including forestry, mining, or other industrial applications;
- Enthusiasm to develop analytical skills and technical acumen; and
- Ability to work well with senior direction, under pressure, meet deadlines and cooperate with a team in a variety of conditions .
