Our client is a leading Canadian manufacturer in a high-mix production environment, known for their strong culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and employee engagement. As part of their leadership team, they're seeking an experienced Plant Controller with a strong cost accounting background to help build structure, enhance profitability, and support ongoing growth.

The Opportunity
As the
Plant Controller
, you'll act as the financial leader for the facility, reporting directly to senior management. You'll own plant-level financial activities, drive cost transparency, and build financial discipline to support operational decision-making. This is a hands-on role where your work will directly impact the bottom line.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, AR/AP, payroll, and month-end close
  • Lead timely month and year-end close processes, including preparation of internal financial statements and reports
  • Maintain and enhance product costing models in a high-mix manufacturing environment
  • Perform variance analysis on labor, materials, and overhead and present findings to leadership
  • Manage inventory accounting, cycle counts, and capital project tracking
  • Partner with operations to support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supervise and develop a small accounting support team, fostering accountability and collaboration
  • Participate in strategic goal setting and support corporate reporting and audits

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred
  • Strong background in cost accounting and plant controllership roles within manufacturing
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing environments
  • ERP experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills; Power BI experience is a plus
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • A hands-on approach and a passion for driving financial performance
