Aboutthisposition
Under the direction of the Plant Mechanical Supervisor, the Plumber is responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of plumbing equipment associated with domestic water supply, waste systems, and some hot water heating systems, and the installation of new plumbing systems as required.
Dutiesandresponsibilities
- Repairs and maintains all plumbing fixtures and feeder lines along with associated waste systems.
- Installs plumbing pipework, fixtures, and fittings for alterations and new construction in accordance with good engineering practices and current applicable plumbing and building codes.
- Monitors and inspect contracted plumbing installations, as required.
- Facilitate a preventative maintenance routine for major plumbing equipment-circulating pumps, motors, sewage system, sump pumps, etc. - to minimize system downtime.
- Responds to emergency callouts, when necessary and available.
- Works with another Plant Craftsperson as required.
- Work in a healthy, safe, and responsible manner.
- Ensure that materials and equipment are used in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
- Ensure understanding and follow all manuals, instructions and directives that are issued. Perform all duties and responsibilities of this position as assigned while remaining compliant with applicable building, construction, trade and safety codes, standards, regulations, and legislation.
- Participate in training, courses, and professional development, as required.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the level of responsibility of the position assigned.
Qualifications,knowledge,andexperience
- Must possess a valid Certificate of Qualification under the Trades Qualification and Apprenticeship Act as a Journeyman Tradesperson in Plumbing plus an additional two years of on-the-job experience.
- Completion of recognized apprenticeship program and provincial certification Master Plumber designation for the City of Kingston orthe ability to obtain the Master's certification within 3 months of employment.
- Well Certification (preferred)
- Valid Ontario's Driver's License.
