Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers ("Crime Stoppers") is a non-profit society and registered charity incorporated in 1984 that receives anonymous tip information about criminal activity and provides it to police and government investigators in communities from Powell River through Boston Bar. Since its inception, tips to Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers have led to more than 8,450 arrests and more than a half-a-billion dollars in stolen property and drugs seized. Our mission is to reduce crime in the community by providing the public with an opportunity to leave anonymous tips about criminal activity.

Position Description:

Under the supervision and direction of the Executive Director, the Tip Analyst Coordinator will work in partnership with Law Enforcement Liaison(s) to assist in meeting the goals and objectives of Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers (MVCS).

Duties and Responsibilities
:

  • Manages all confidential MVCS tips maintaining Tipster anonymity and knowledge of appropriate legislation on informer privilege.
  • Provides training and onboarding for officers assigned to Crime Stoppers tips, develops and presents program and analyst materials, and collaborates law enforcement through strategic meetings.
  • Corresponds with Tipsters to arrange reward payments for eligible tips.
  • Prepares, tracks, and maintains statistical reports and electronic records
  • Monitors crime trends, conducts searches and addresses inquiries.
  • Takes calls from Tipsters inquiring about updates and adding additional details to tips.
  • Alerts the community about missing and wanted persons through marketing communications.
  • Creates, manages, and analyzes content for social media channels, including engagement, messaging, analytics, and campaign strategy support.
  • Summarizes and gathers materials for Executive Director and case files (i.e. Cold Cases, Extortions etc.).
  • Maintains and assists in developing partnerships/collaborations
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Police Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate degrees in Criminology, Political Science, or Statistics.
  • Valid BC Driver's License
  • Knowledge of legal processes, legislation, and informer privilege would be an asset.
  • Social Media savvy and knowledgeable of computer applications/programs (Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Canva, and Google Analytics).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Team Player and self-motivated.
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and highly organized.
  • Thrives in a multi-task environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Quick learner and excellent decision making/problem solving skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance.
