About Forge Labs

Forge Labs is a leading digital manufacturing company specializing in industrial-grade 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting. We help engineers, designers, and manufacturers bring products to life faster — from prototype to production — using advanced manufacturing technologies.

We're growing our team and are looking for a technically skilled Applications Engineer to join our sales and customer success group. This position bridges engineering expertise and customer engagement — helping clients choose the right manufacturing process, optimize their CAD designs, and ensure a seamless experience from quote to delivery.

Role Overview

The Applications Engineer supports our Additive Manufacturing and CNC sales team by providing technical expertise, application consulting, and customer-facing support. You'll be the technical voice during pre-sales discussions, guiding customers to the best solutions for their needs, while also helping improve internal processes, training materials, and technical content.

This is a hands-on role at the intersection of engineering, customer service, and business development — ideal for a mechanical engineer who enjoys both design and communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the 3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing sales team with technical knowledge, process recommendations, and application consulting.
  • Review customer CAD files for manufacturability and assist in optimizing designs for 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, training sessions, and plant tours as part of the pre-sales process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Customer Success) to ensure smooth project handoffs and outstanding customer outcomes.
  • Provide post-sale support to resolve quality, process, and engineering issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of additive manufacturing technologies, materials, and industry trends.
  • Develop and maintain training materials for new hires, service updates, and product launches.
  • Create technical content (articles, videos, presentations) that highlights Forge Labs' capabilities and thought leadership.
  • Participate in trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events to represent Forge Labs as a technical expert.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of additive manufacturing (3D printing) processes and materials
  • Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS, Fusion 360, or equivalent 3D CAD tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident presenting to groups, both in-person and virtually.
  • Independent, proactive, and organized — able to manage multiple customer interactions at once.

Preferred:

  • Hands on experience with industrial 3D printing equipment like SLS, MJF, DMLS technologies
  • Experience with CNC machining or laser cutting processes.
  • Prior experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or manufacturing support.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing software (e.g., Materialise Magics, Netfabb, GrabCAD Print).

What You'll Gain

  • Deep exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies across industries.
  • Opportunities to grow into senior technical, sales, or operations roles.
  • A supportive, hands-on team environment that values initiative and learning.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and professional development support.

How to Apply

If you're passionate about manufacturing, engineering, and helping customers succeed — we'd love to meet you.

Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter describing your experience with 3D printing or manufacturing processes.
