Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst
Location: Calgary 
Hybrid: 3 days in office 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the month-end close process, gross margin (GM) analysis, and accruals, while also supporting divisional reconciliation and commission calculations. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, and a solid foundation in critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the month-end close process including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Analyze and explain gross margin variances by product, division, or region.
  • Calculate and track sales commissions, ensuring alignment with internal policies and incentive plans.
  • Perform divisional financial reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances; proactively identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports for senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure financial records comply with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises), and company accounting policies. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designated or actively enrolled in the CPA program considered an asset.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a financial analyst, accounting, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and its practical application in financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics GP, Office 360, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Assets (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with commission plans and incentive compensation tools.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
