Job Summary

The SMC Care Aid plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to client in need, including those with disabilities. This position involves assisting client with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their overall well-being. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for the client.

Duties

  • Provide personal care assistance to client, including but not limited to personal hygiene, dressing, cleaning, laundry etc
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Prepare meals according to preference.
  • Support client in engaging in daily activities, exercises, stretching and hobbies to promote independence.
  • Assist client with transport to appointments and recreation using clients vehicle.
  • Monitor and document changes in clients health and report any concerns to client.
  • Administer medications
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for client by performing some housekeeping tasks Including keeping things organized and tidy.
  • Foster a respectful and caring relationship with client, ensuring their dignity is upheld at all times.

Skills

  • Previous experience in caregiving, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to perform meal preparation and maintain cleanliness in living spaces.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with client and family having, a sense of humour is something I'll look for in a successful candidate
  • Familiarity with working with persons with disabilities, ensuring their specific needs are met
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively when assisting client.
  • Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid upon hiring is a plus but not a deal breaker
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and every other weekend. Schedule provided
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must be able to legally work in canada
