West Cana is currently seeking a reliable and compassionate Cook to join our care home team in West Kelowna. This role is vital in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of our residents through the preparation of nutritious, high-quality meals that meet care and dietary standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to posted menus, production sheets, and portion standards
  • Follow therapeutic and modified diets (e.g., texture-modified, allergy-safe, diabetic)
  • Ensure adequate protein and nutritional requirements are met for all residents
  • Maintain food safety standards in accordance with FoodSafe, Interior Health, and company policies
  • Accurately record temperatures for cooking, holding, cooling, and reheating
  • Work collaboratively with dietary aides, nursing staff, and leadership
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment and workstations
  • Follow WHMIS, WorkSafeBC, and infection control practices
  • Support a respectful, team-based work environment

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous cooking experience in a care home, hospital, or institutional kitchen preferred
  • Valid FoodSafe Level 1 (Level 2 an asset)
  • Knowledge of special diets and meal modifications an asset
  • Ability to follow written instructions and production sheets accurately
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
  • Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) required
