Under the supervision and guidance of the Coordinator, Fitness & Aquatics, the Aquatics

Programmer is responsible for assisting the coordinator with day-to-day pool operations by

providing leadership to Head Instructor Guards, Instructor/Guards, and Lifeguards. The Aquatics

Programmer assists with recruitment, hiring, training, coaching, and monitoring performance, as

well as scheduling, program planning, program delivery, pool supervision, and customer

relations.

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Assists in recruitment, screening, hiring, orientation, and training of aquatic staff.
  • Oversees all pool operations, including planning, implementing, and supervising swimming lessons, drop-in programs, camp swims, outdoor pool activities, and special events.
  • Ensures all aquatic programs meet Ontario Public Pool Regulations, Town of New Tecumseth policies, and industry legislation.
  • Takes lead in emergencies and first aid situations; ensures accurate and timely completion of reports.
  • Mentors, coaches, and evaluates staff including Head Instructor Guards, Instructor/Guards, and Lifeguards
  • Develops staff schedules, assigns daily duties, and fosters a positive team environment.
  • Maintains swim lesson rosters, monitors registration, and prepares payroll and statistical reports.
  • Responds to public inquiries and complaints, documenting and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Promotes aquatic initiatives and water safety through program promotion and community engagement.

What you bring to the team:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in recreation leadership or a related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Certification in High Five - PHCD and Quest 2
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
  • National Lifeguard Certificate
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certificate
  • Aquatic Supervisor certification
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Advanced aquatic certifications including "Instructor", "Examiner" and "Trainer"
  • Certified Program Planner designation
  • Aquatic Safety Inspector
  • LSS Pool Operator Level 1 or equivalent
  • Aquatic Fitness Certification (e.g. CALA, Water Art or equivalent)

Salary: $29.91 to $35.19

Hours: 35 hours per week April & May, 40 hours per week for June, July and August

Location: Alliston ON

Start Date: April 27, 2026, to September 6, 2026.
