Starline Foods is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor to join our team at our Abbotsford, BC blueberry processing facility. The QA Supervisor plays a critical role in administering company policies and procedures related to food safety and quality, working closely with plant leadership to ensure compliance through performance management, supervision, monitoring, and continuous improvement of quality systems and processes.

What You Will Do

  • Perform records review and monitor compliance to specifications, methods, procedures, GMP, HACCP, and Food Safety Programs. Ensure compliance through sampling and testing of all relevant processes and materials.
  • Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with CFIA and applicable customer or certification requirements (HACCP, SQF/BRC, as applicable).
  • Provide technical support in food safety program implementation, including training and correction of deficiencies.
  • Conduct routine plant inspections to verify compliance to regulatory and internal requirements from raw fruit receiving through shipping of finished product.
  • Oversee environmental monitoring and sanitation programs, including coordination of sampling and corrective actions.
  • Supervise laboratory functions and operations in all facets of analytical testing supporting in-process and finished product analysis (microbiological, quality, and integrity checks).
  • Train and review methodologies, SOPs, performance, and techniques of hourly QA staff.
  • Implement and conduct routine calibration of laboratory and plant instruments to ensure accuracy and repeatability of test results.
  • Perform finished product evaluations including packaging review and product integrity verification. Ensure all analytical and production check frequencies are being met.
  • Verify weights and measures, including scale checks and documentation.
  • Manage metal detection and foreign material control programs through routine checks and record review.
  • Review and inspect ingredients and raw materials. Verify vendor compliance and monitor receipt, storage, and handling practices.
  • Monitor CIP systems and sanitation documentation to ensure proper cleaning and validation against established parameters.
  • Perform routine sanitation inspections and verify effectiveness through visual inspection and microbiological testing.
  • Maintain food safety and quality by immediately reporting all food safety risks or quality issues to QA and plant management and placing all at-risk product on hold for management review.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across quality, food safety, and operational efficiency.

What You Will Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in Food Quality Assurance or Food Manufacturing (produce, fruit, or frozen processing experience strongly preferred).
  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience with food plant sanitation programs.
  • HACCP certification is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to implement quality systems in a proactive and positive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, achieve results through others, and operate independently when required.
  • Strong organizational and technical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Goal-oriented, results-driven mindset.

This is a fully onsite position based at our Abbotsford, BC processing plant.

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,000.00 per year
