This role will be accountable for client deadlines being met while maintaining accurate financial records for several clients of their own. The role requires direct communication with clients to verify the procedures used for recording financial transactions and to ensure a high level of service. The position is remote contract work with flexible hours and the ability to accept/reject work depending on your schedule.What you will do:Client Onboarding• Assess and identify the client bookkeeping needs (ie. Accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, GST, etc).• Document the client's existing bookkeeping processes and identify opportunities for improvements.• Develop workflow processes and procedures for each client onboarded. Integrate workflow procedures within the Company's existing workflow system.• Update bookkeeping to correct opening balances.• Set up and adjust the chart of accounts.• Training of the transitioning bookkeeper as to the systems and processes for each client.Bookkeeping• Maintains accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers.• Reconciling the balance sheet accounts at month-end.• Analysis of income statement to identify potential classification errors.• Prepare and file GST returns.• Coordinating with clients to obtain supporting documents.• Ensuring transactions recorded have relevant support attached.• Ensuring appropriate checklists of weekly, monthly, and annual procedures are completed.• Maintains historical records by filing documents.• Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; and advising management on needed actions.What you bring:• Degree, diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration• CPA designation would be an asset.• >3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.• A passion for teaching and learning.• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.• Experience with Applications such as: DEXT Prepare, DEXT Commerce, Stripe, Shopify, PayPal…etc.• Strong understanding of accounting principles and full cycle month-end close processes.• Proficient knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft applications.• Member of the Canadian Bookkeeper Association would be an asset.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• You are client-driven; always striving to improve the client experience.• Problem solver with a can-do attitude.• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and consistency.What we offer:• Competitive compensation• High level of job flexibility and remote work• ProAdvisor certificate in QuickBooks Online• Training and support from an experienced team
