Our Canada Operations & Business Enablement team focuses on understanding the needs of our customers and advisors and providing them with unparalleled service and support. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Canada Operations & Business Enablement, the Vice President, Business Project Management Office (BPMO), you will lead the Project Management Office across the Canadian Functions. You will lead by example, ensuring that we do the right thing in all our projects, step up to drive transformation and modernization initiatives, and deliver outstanding results that align with our strategic goals; providing strategic direction and governance for all program/project management activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with Canada Life policies.
What You Will Do
- Lead, build, and mentor a large, high-performing, multi-layered project management team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and delivery excellence.
- Establish proactive and robust governance frameworks, processes, and KPIs to ensure regulatory compliance, minimize risk, and measure the effectiveness and success of project delivery.
- Drive the ongoing evolution of the BPMO, enhancing best-in-class project management practices, tools, and policies to improve productivity and quality in alignment with organizational goals.
- Act as a key thought leader for critical business transformation and modernization programs, providing strategic guidance to optimize delivery timelines, cost, and risk mitigation.
- Develop and deliver regular, comprehensive reporting on program status, risks, and financial performance to senior management and regulators.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships, working closely with Program sponsors, the Technology Program Office, Risk, Finance, and other partners to achieve strategic goals.
What You Will Bring
- 10+ years of senior PMO leadership, delivering complex, strategic transformation initiatives.
- Proven leader of leaders, with experience building and inspiring high-performing, multi-level teams.
- Strong financial acumen, including P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, and business case development.
- Deep experience in financial services and regulated environments, with strong operational risk expertise.
- Skilled in navigating matrixed organizations, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving strategic alignment.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of innovation, execution, and performance improvement.
