The Civil Non-Working Foreman is responsible for supervising, coordinating and scheduling the daily activities of specific water&sewer and associated infrastructure construction projects. Coordinating activities of tradespeople, subcontractors, and construction teams establishing methods to meet work schedules, project budget and resolve problems while maintaining a high standard of quality and safety. You will be required to perform duties of the trade working alongside those you are supervising. Through coordination with Project Managers (PM) and Project Coordinators (PC) you will be required to ensure accurate and up-to-date reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES, including but not limited to:

SITE OPERATIONS

· Accomplishes project objectives by clearly communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, promoting industry best practices

· Manages sub-contractors by, evaluating sub-contractors; monitoring and controlling performance.

· Meets quality standards by contributing construction information to workers; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems

· Meets construction budgets by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; and implementing corrective actions.

· Completing and submitting reports including but not limited to daily worksheets, approved worker timesheets, PSI, sub-trade evaluation report, skill assessment report and non-compliance reports

· Accomplishes construction project results through clear understanding of project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; scheduling resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; communicating design problems to PM; evaluating and implementing change orders.

· Hands on performance of trade duties as required

· Act as a catalyst with relation to potential change orders.

COMPLIANCE:

· Prevents fines and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes, internal policies and procedures, legislation and regulations.

· Develop and assess all project plans and perform risk assessment on all projects. Document and communicate risks to workers.

· Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing internal policies and procedures, legislation and regulations.

LEADERSHIP

· Provides guidance to crews by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, and coaching employees; communicating job expectations; and appraising job contributions

· Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

· Exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Legislation and Construction Regulations playing clear and proactive role in injury and illness prevention
  • Ensure and enforce worker's compliance with ECSI Health & Safety Policies and Procedures and OHSA regulations
  • Maintain equipment in good working order per company policy and manufacturers specifications
  • Document and report non-compliance

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma;
  • 7+ years in the water and sewer civil construction industry; and
  • 3+ years in a supervisory role

TRAINING and SKILLS:

  • Leadership and people management skills;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Valid class "G" Driver's License;
  • Basics of Supervising;
  • MOL Supervisor Health and Safety Training;
  • MOL Worker Health and Safety Training;
  • WHMIS 2015 Certificate;
  • Working at Heights Certificate;
  • Blueprint Reading; and
  • First Aid, CPR & AED

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
